Lacuna Coil est un groupe de metal atmosphérique / gothique (parfois qualifié de groupe de neometal) italien créé à Milan, en Italie, en 1996. Ils furent d'abord connus sous le nom de Sleep of Right puis d'Ethereal. A l'origine ils jouaient un style de metal atmosphérique teinté de gothic metal mais ils tendent aujourd'hui à évoluer progressivement vers la sphère du metal alternatif avec leurs derniers opus.

Melechesh est un groupe de black metal fondé en 1993 à Jérusalem, d'origine non-israélienne, maintenant basé aux Pays-Bas. Le groupe est souvent cité pour ses influences orientales[1]. Le groupe a été fondé par Ashmedi en 1993, dans le seul but de créer un black-metal original incorporant des influences du Moyen-Orient, principalement axées sur des thèmes Mésopotamiens / Sumériens et occultes (que ce soit musicalement ou au niveau des paroles). Le groupe a ainsi inventé le terme "Mesopotamian Metal" pour décrire au mieux sa musique.

Nom du groupe :

Le nom Melechesh est constitué de deux noms hébreux, מלך (melech = roi) et אש (esh = feu), une combinaison qui a été créée par le groupe. Le CH est prononcé comme le ch écossais, comme dans le mot Loch ou le néerlandais G (Kh). La prononciation la plus commune et acceptable doit donc être MeleKesh.



Origines des membres :

Le groupe a démarré sa carrière à Jérusalem et Bethlehem, opérant dans cette région de 1993 à 1997. Ashmedi vit à Amsterdam depuis 1998. Le groupe a été (et est toujours souvent) affilié à Israël de par ses origines géographiques, alors qu'il n'en est rien. En effet, le groupe comprend trois ethnies, et aucune d'elles n'est israélienne : Arménienne/Assyrienne pour Ashmedi, Assyrienne pour Moloch et Européenne (Pays-Bas) pour Xul.
